Helping Hands of Rockland County
Helping Hands of Rockland County is a broad coalition of communities of faith and concerned organizations and individuals. Volunteers provide food, lodging, financial support, transportation, and above all, their hearts to assist the homeless of Rockland County. Our church welcomes guests who enjoy home-cooked meals and a warm, safe place to sleep during the cold winter months. Chaperones insist that they derive more by offering these services than do those who receive them.
Interfaith Breakfast Program
We collect fresh fruit and provide volunteers for the breakfast program at the United Church of Spring Valley, whose mission is, “to provide food, dignity and kindness to anyone, of any faith, background or circumstance, who is hungry and in need of a meal.”
Birthday People
For more than four decades, the Nauraushaun “Birthday People” have paid monthly visits to the young patients at Rockland Psychiatric Center, bringing games, refreshments and small gifts to celebrate any children's birthdays that particular month.
Food Drive
The Salvation Army food drive provides fresh supplies of groceries for this Spring Valley based food pantry. We collect non-perishable items at local super markets by asking people to remember the hungry while they are shopping.
Equal Exchange and Fair Trade
We believe faith matters in how we make purchases, and so we have fairly traded coffee, tea, and chocolates for sale in the church office.
One Great Hour of Sharing.
Since 1949 Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians each Easter through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with our neighbors in need around the world, providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, food to the hungry, and assist in helping to empower the poor and oppressed.
Peace and Global Witness Offering
Received on World Communion Sunday, this offering help sustain the important PC(USA) ministries. Learn more.
Presbyterian Parity
Nauraushaun is a long-time member of this coalition of NYC area churches supporting full inclusion of all people, particularly LGBTQ folks. We have been a More Light church for over a decade.
